New scouts are invited to play games in the gym while parents meet in youth room. If you are not able to attend the meeting date for your youth’s particular school, but can attend one of the other meetings, you are welcome to do that. If your youth attends a different school than what is above, you can attend any of these sessions. Scouts are not limited based on their school.
Our pack has been around for over 20 years! Our pack serves scouts from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade in Olathe, KS School District and the City of Lenexa KS. Many of our scouts attend Manchester Park Elementary, Cedar Creek Elementary and Canyon Creek Elementary.
Our charter organization and meeting location for most of our pack events is Kaw Prairie Community Church near K-7 and Prairie Star Parkway. We generally meet on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. You can visit the pack calendar to see our currently scheduled events for the year.
As a pack, we meet once or twice a month to do different activities including the pinewood derby, raingutter boats, camping, hiking, and other fun team building games. Each grade level is grouped into dens who also meet once or twice a month individually and work on different adventures in their ranks that teach the youth different skills and traits related to the scout law.
We currently accept all youth who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Youth can join at any of these grade levels and will be in a den with their peers in the same grade.
Cub Scouts is one of the most affordable year round youth activities available. There are a couple of different fees that are paid each year. The first is the BSA national & council fees. These can change yearly. Last year they were $139 for a new scout, $114 for a returning scout. The second fee is the pack dues. This fee is $50 per scout, goes directly to the pack, and helps pay for the pack activities and supplies.
The pack is ran by volunteer parents of members of the pack. The more leadership and parent support we have in the pack, the more impactful we can be for the youth. The pack has a great group of committed leaders, but we have room for additional support if you wish to join as a leader.
Yes, there is a cub scout uniform. Depending on your youth’s grade level will determine the uniform. To learn more about what your youth will need, please visit our uniform page.
